All about Batch Barcode Scanners
A Batch Barcode Scanner is also known as a data collector. You can scan barcodes into the scanners memory and once completed, you will be able to transfer the data into a spreadsheet or text file on a computer system.Â
There are a couple of way you can get the data back to the computer and this is via Bluetooth (Wireless) or USB Interface Cable.
When using Bluetooth, the barcode scanner is paired to your device. It works similar to a wireless barcode scanner so when it is out of range, it will store the barcodes into the internal memory of the scanner. Once in range, it will automatically pair back the device and transfer the data into a text file or spreadsheet depending on the application being used.
When using USB Interface, you simply scan all barcodes and then when you return to your PC, you connect the USB interface cable and collect the data into the text file or spreadsheet. Some scanners will automatically start transferring into a text file once it is plugged in.
The barcodes normally output data with a date/time stamp and it widely used for stocktaking in the Point of Sale industry but you can use this to collect scanning data for any application you wish.
