All about POS Cash Drawers

A POS Cash Drawer (also known as a Till) is an important peripheral within a complete POS System and is used to store your money (Cash, Coins and other payment types). POS Cash Drawers connect to either your receipt printer or POS Terminal using a telephone jack style connection which is also known as the  RJ12 plug. The solenoid is 24v (volts) for all our POS Cash Drawers unless stated otherwise but we do have a specific 12v cash drawer section which is for connecting to some POS Terminals. When the cash drawer connects to your receipt printer or POS System, the Cash Drawer will open automatically when a transaction has been finalised. When you close the drawer, it will re-latch to the rear mechanism and stay closed until another sale has been processed. The cable on the cash drawer is approximately 1.5 metres in length so you will have room to place the drawer in the desired location.

When it comes to choosing your Point of Sale Cash Drawer, there are some factors you will need to consider. This includes the space you have to ensure the drawer will fit in the location you wish to place it, whether you are going to mount the cash drawer under the bench using cash drawer brackets, the durability of the cash drawer and the warranty period.

Our cash drawers range in sizes depending on the make and model but don't worry, we have all of the sizes listed within our descriptions so there will be no surprises! The size of the cash drawer can also affect the size of the internal insert/money tray so be sure to check this as well. Some of our drawer also have brackets available (not all of them) which is great for when you are securing it under the counter top or bench which is great for security - Out of Sight, Out of Mind.

Some will be cheaper than others but there is normally a good reason for this. It can be the brand of the cash drawer but also the quality. Some of the better quality drawers actually weigh more so there is more steel used to manufacturer and in turn this does come at an expense but well worth it. We do also stock spare parts and additional/replacement drawer inserts & money trays. 

You can't always select the cheapest cash drawer when it is the piece of equipment that is storing your money!

Warranties of products are dependant of the brand and model so we have carefully placed these in the product description so you are fully aware of the time periods. Just because some may be longer than others, doesn't necessarily mean that the drawer is better or worse than others. It comes down to how long the manufacturer has chosen for that particular cash drawer.
