All about USB Cash Drawers

There are two type of USB Cash Drawers available. 

The first is what we call a "True" USB Cash Drawer and connects directly to a computer or POS System which can use an OPOS Driver. The software must be able to support this type of cash drawer so please ensure you check with your software developer or vend to ensure this will work before purchasing.

The second type of USB Cash Drawer utilises a "Virtual Comm" port. This uses a USB Cash Drawer Trigger which provides a virtual communication port once the driver has been installed. You can replace a serial cash drawer by either using a trigger or a complete drawer bundle that includes the trigger as they operate in the same way. You must also check with your software vendor (developer) to ensure they can support a virtual comm port.

A USB Cash Drawer is a great option if you don't require a receipt printer and need the drawer to connect directly to your device. The USB Cash Drawers are not designed to connect directly with a tablet and are for use with a Windows platform system.
